one day when “the Ninevites believed God.” Jonah could not have reached the entire city in one day. Those who heard his message, therefore, must have carried word of it to others. Like a wildfire, the news spread. More and more kept coming, crowding around this strange prophet from Israel, eager to hear his even stranger message. And they believed what they heard, because we’re told they “believed God.” As mentioned previously, Jonah’s message no doubt was more than the eight words in verse 4. For
